Nancy Baker, PhD

Nancy brings extensive training of and practice with clinical hypnotherapy to her meditation practice. Although not meditation per se, it shares many features with mindfulness and meditation. Through guidance and teaching, clients are taught to be in the present, shifting a negative learned belief or way of being into a positive one or way, all in a non-judgmental manner. Nancy also has participated in many continuing education courses in mindfulness, culminating in a decision to focus on meditation as a living skillset.

“In 2017, as part of my treatment for my Traumatic Brain Injury, my neuro rehab provider had me begin a daily meditation practice. I said to myself, “Okay, I can do this.” So I did—and I found that I began to like it, then to look forward to it, and I began to anticipate doing it.

When I listened to a teaching talk by Shinzen Young on a beginning technique in Unified Mindfulness, I was pretty blown away by the simplicity of what he was presenting and the ease. I immediately looked into training in his techniques. This is where I met Rose.

We both were doing intensive training to become Coaches in Unified Mindfulness. A small group of us continue to meet weekly, reading, listening to what I would call Master Meditation teachers, and learning different techniques.

Mindfulness and Meditation have become part of my life. They have changed me for the better. I invite you to try meditation, step in at whatever level you are at, and join us in walking our paths to healthier thoughts, living, and being.”

Rosalie (Rose) Bostick, MS2

Rose has been teaching guiding meditation and mindfulness to groups and individuals for over 15 years. She has studied and taught a variety of different meditation systems that have not only enriched her own practice, but have enhanced her effectiveness as a teacher.

Rose has also studied extensively with Shinzen Young, a mindfulness teacher and scientist who created the Unified Mindfulness system. This system is science-based and highly organized with clear and effective instructions. Rose teaches with humor, compassion, and openness, and specializes in tailoring her support as a teacher to the needs of each individual and group. She offers a tool-bag of empowering techniques and strategies that the student can use creatively for their personal needs and interests. She is fully there as support and believes that it’s the student or client who gets to choose which tool is best for them at any given time.

“In 1997, I was looking for meditation tools to help with some very difficult emotional circumstances that I’d been going through for a while. Previously, I’d tried a few kinds of meditation, but in 1997, I’d heard about Shinzen Young and his mindfulness system. Because it was so creative and organized with clear instructions, I was called to it and it helped me greatly. A few years after that, I decided to teach this system to others and over time blended in the effectiveness of other systems to my teaching approach. Whether you’ve meditated your whole life or are just beginning to understand the words ‘meditation’ and ‘mindfulness’ for the first time, I welcome you to join us and to discover the creative ways in which you can enrich and enhance your own wellbeing.”
